*Mother Goose Songs*
Little Bo Peep
Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep,
And can't tell where to find them;
Leave them alone, and they'll come home,
And bring their tails behind them.
Little Bo-Peep fell fast asleep,
And dreamt she heard them bleating;
But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
for they were still a-fleeting.
Then up she took her crook,
Determined to find them;
She found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
For they'd left their tails behind them.
It happened one day, as Bo-Peep did stray
Over a meadow hard by,
That there she espied their tails, side by side,
all hung on a tree to dry.
She heaved a sigh, and gave by and by,
Each careless sheep a banging;
And as for the rest, she thought it was best,
Just to leave the tails a-hanging.
Ding, Dong, Bell
Ding, dong, bell,
Pussy's in the well,
Who put her in? Little Tommy Green.
Who pulled her out? Little Tommy Stout.
What a naughty boy was that
To drown poor pussy cat,
Who never did him any harm,
But killed the mice in Father's barn.
